| SCA Student Group Listserv |
If you are a student interested in California Archaeology, an employer looking for field techs, a professor announcing campus events or field schools, or a graduate student looking for volunteers, then you should know about the newly formed SCA Student Group Listserv*.
The objective of the SCA Student Group Listserv is to build a community of students interested in California archaeology, while providing useful information to its members.
CONTENT may include:
- SCA student affairs related items
- field opportunities, including volunteer digs and field schools
- internships
- employment opportunities within California
- lectures, workshops, etc.
Additionally, members are encouraged to post questions, ideas, and responses, as long as the content is pertinent to the group.
TO JOIN:
The listserv is open to any student with an interest in California Archaeology, or to non-students who would like to post opportunities on a regular basis (for example, a representative of a contracting firm with recurring job openings in California). To join the group, simply email the listserv’s moderator at stushingham@ucdavis.edu.
POSTING:
Please feel free to post any item of interest to California archaeology students. However, postings should be limited to announcements that apply to students from more than one campus. For example, a post relating to a volunteer dig that is only open to students from Humboldt State would not be appropriate, while a dig that was open to any students would. Any member of the group can post to the listserv, and those who are not members can send items of interest to the listserv’s moderator.
SUBJECT TAGLINES:
If possible, please be as descriptive as possible with your “subject” tagline. This is so people can quickly navigate messages and won’t be forced to read an entire post that might not interest or pertain to them.
Some examples:
Subject: June Volunteer Dig, Northwestern California
Subject: Guest Speaker: Isotope Analysis, Chico (June 5)
Subject: Field Tech position, LA, starts immediately
Subject: Ride share wanted: San Diego to SCA Annual Meeting
*The Listserv is sponsored by the SCA Student Affairs Committee, whose primary goal is to promote student involvement in SCA meetings and events. Additionally, we are dedicated to voicing the concerns and issues of student members, who represent over 25% of the SCA membership.
