“Ethnographic Materials and Ethnoarchaeology Workshops Regarding Northern Baja California Indians”

Stephen J. Bouscaren

Abstract

In early 1996, Steve Bouscaren (San Diego City College) and Mike Wilken (CUNA, Ensenada, Baja California) conceptualized and began to implement several ethnoarchaeology workshops in northern Baja California with the Paipai of Santa Catarina and the Kumiai of San José de la Zorra. As a result of doing background research for the various workshops, collections of photographs, slides, and reel to reel films were located in late 1997. The subject matter of these materials is primarily the Paipai and Kumiai peoples of Santa Catarina. An overview of the various materials found and discussion of their content is provided.
